My quest to effectively leverage social media continues with my upcoming Twitter Town Hall!
Did you know that a traditional Town Hall is incredibly expensive? Advertising through traditional means – print ads, mail drops – can skyrocket past $1500 pretty quickly. Room rentals, snacks, staff time all add to the final bill. A good turnout from the community is probably 10-15 people.
While a hot topic is a great reason to host a public meeting – bringing stakeholders together to share perspectives and learn from each other – I like to look for other ways to broaden my connection with our constituents.
What will a Twitter Town Hall look like? Well, the beauty is that I can host a Twitter Town Hall and participants can be anywhere! You may be at your child’s soccer game, out with your pals at Starbucks, or at home watching Dancing with the Stars in your PJs. I’ll be ready to answer your questions about Ward 2 issues and will have some survey questions about broader city issues prepared for participants to answer.
Follow me on twitter @karenscian and be ready to participate.
